Best Wantan Mee in Sungai Petani - Seng Huat Kedai Kopi

Best wantan mee in Sungai Petani is is located at Jalan Bakar Arang and the coffee shop name is Seng Huat. The owner of this wantan mee is called "Ah Niu" - translate to English is "ah cow". :)

A very special and unique thing about this wantan mee is you need to take the number after you make your order and this number will be repeated after it runs over. They have a lot of customers and usually you can wait more than 1 hour. This is the the thing that I don't like here. So to avoid waiting for more than 1 hour, I recommend you to go there before 8 am. :)

Food/Price - 8/10

If compare to the wantan mee in Penang at new cathay cafe, the wantan mee here is less oily but overall I think both are very good. It is just different style. I like both of them. The price is cheap like normal coffee shop that you can find it Sungai Petani.

Drink - 5/10

Drink is suck here. If you not believe, try it out.

Environment/Service - 7/10

Not sure if they can do anything to cook faster because famous and nice wantan mee usually takes longer time to cook? lol

Overall - 7.5/10

I like to come here usually during weekend. Must try if you haven't tried wantan mee in Sungai Petani!

Best Wantan Mee in Penang - New Cathay Cafe

I think that is the best "Wantan Mee" - Wonton Noodle that I had in Penang. The shop name is called "New Cathay Cafe" which is located near the Hotel Vistana in Penang and specifically located in one of the apartment, Taman Bukit Jambul Block A.

However, sometimes the "Wantan Mee" can lose it's quality (I think is because the owner doesn't change the cold water too often). In case you do not know, to cook a very good "Wantan Mee" you need the cold water. You cook half way the noodle and you put it in the cold water all the sudden, then you cook it again and it gets repeats for few times. The timing determines how nice is the noodle. If you go to those not so nice wonton noodle hawker, you can tell the quality difference!

Food (Wantan Mee) - 8/10

Yes, this is the stall - just order it and you won't regret it. You can order dry one or soup. For first timer, I recommend you to try the dry one first and if you have a second chance, you can try the soup one. The soup, I would probably give 7 out of 10. :)

There are other food as well such as curry noodle, "hokkien" noodle, and fried "kuey teow" but all are mostly normal. Probably just 6 out of 10, I will give. :)

Drink - 7/10

Drink is not that bad, I always order "Teh Si" - a tea that mixed with evaporated milk. You can order "Coffee Si" too - coffee that mixed with evaporated milk. Overall, I think is okay but if you compared to Hong Kong for this kind of drink, I think the of course the Hong Kong's one is better.

Environment/Service - 7/10

It is quite a clean place and I have no complaints. Of course no air conditional. :)

Price - 8/10

I give 8 is because the price for most food and drink are considered quite cheap in Penang. Cheap and nice food, who doesn't want?

Overall - 7.5/10

I've been going here for breakfast very often and yet not bored. Yes, almost forget about it, please don't go too early or too late. It is opened only in the morning! :)
